Chapter 1943 Past Events
Chapter 1943 Past Events
The room fell into silence. The even sounds of breathing intertwined like a piece of music, able to soothe people's restless hearts and calm them down.
A good night's sleep.
When Wan Shufang woke up, the sun was still high outside. Looking at the bright sunshine, Wan Shufang sat up and stretched, feeling refreshed. With her hands still raised high, the door of the room was opened.
Chen Changli came into the room with breakfast. Seeing that Wan Shufang had recovered her spirits, he smiled and said, "Shufang, get up and eat something. It's all your favorite food."
He woke up early in the morning and saw that Wan Shufang was still asleep, so he didn't call her. He went out and bought her favorite food, and also brought some for Minghe and her daughter.
"Mrs. Luo has woken up. After you finish eating, we will go find her and ask about what happened that year."
"Okay." Wan Shufang agreed with a smile, got up and put on her clothes. She washed up, looked at the table full of her favorite food, and her mood improved.
But as she was thinking about her business, Wan Shufang ate very quickly. Before long, she finished her meal and was ready to go next door to find Minghe. The two of them came to Minghe's room.
In the room, Madam Luo was half lying down, eating the porridge that Minghe fed her. Seeing the two of them, Minghe greeted them, "Wan Shufang, Chen Changli, you are here."
"Well, how was your day?"
Knowing that she was asking about her mother, Minghe smiled, his eyes full of happiness: "Much better now, thank you for the medicine."
Hearing this, Wan Shufang nodded gently. She walked to the bedside, looked at the timid woman, pursed her lips and called out, "Mrs. Luo."
"What happened back then? Why were you imprisoned and tortured?"
The word "Mrs. Luo" silenced the woman who had not heard this title for a long time. After a long while, she slowly began to explain.
"I haven't heard anyone call me Madam Luo for a long time. In the past, our family of four lived a good life, with a stable and happy life." She paused, as if she was thinking of some bad past events, her brows tightly furrowed.
"But I didn't expect that something happened to Minghe and her sister. Hualian fled to protect Minghe and disappeared. Our family was also persecuted. Luo Chen and I fought to protect Minghe. I thought I was dead, but I didn't expect..."
Madam Luo raised her wrist, revealing the blood marks from the iron chain, and smiled miserably: "When I woke up, I found that I was not dead, but was locked up. I didn't know where I was, and I didn't know how to escape. They tortured and humiliated me every day."
She held her head in her hands, as if she was lost in memories, and struggled non-stop. Several people were frightened by her actions. Minghe threw the bowl and hugged the woman, tears flowing like beads from a broken string, unable to stop.
"Mother, mother is fine. You are saved now. Aming will protect you in the future, mother." Minghe kept comforting her with a choked voice.
Warm tears fell on Mrs. Luo's shoulders. She shuddered all over, suddenly came to her senses, and subconsciously reached out to hug Minghe back.
Looking at the two people in the room and her daughter who was crying in front of her, Mrs. Luo's eyes were slightly red, and she whispered to comfort him: "It's okay, mother is okay, A-Ming, don't cry."
Ke Minghe couldn't stop crying. The mother and daughter hugged each other and cried for a long time before they separated with sobs. During this time, Chen Changli and Wan Shufang just sat there quietly without saying a word.
After both of them calmed down, Chen Changli asked again: "Madam Luo, you have been with the murderer, do you know the murderer's identity?"
"I don't know, but there are a few suspicious people, all from southern Xinjiang..." Mrs. Luo curled her lips and said a few names, and Minghe was no stranger to these people.
Nowadays, these people have become powerful people in southern Xinjiang and are difficult to deal with.
But Chen Changli and Wan Shufang were not worried about being difficult to deal with. As long as they had a direction, it would be fine. She took out a hairpin and said, "One more thing, Madam Luo, what's the matter with this hairpin? There is a hallucinogenic poison on it."
Hearing Wan Shufang's words, Mrs. Luo's eyes were also shocked. She shook her head gently: "I don't know. After I was locked up, they tortured me in different ways every day, but they suddenly stopped not long ago and only asked me to make hairpins."
"I couldn't resist, so I had to agree to make 50 hairpins every day as they asked."
After saying these words, Madam Luo rubbed her brows with her hand, her face showing fatigue. She was weak and had just woken up, so it was not suitable for her to worry too much.
Thinking of this, Chen Changli stopped Wan Shufang and did not let her ask any more questions. He only gently reminded her: "We will investigate this matter. Madam Luo, you should have a good rest first. Miss Minghe, you should also stay and take care of it. We will investigate the truth."
"Thank you." Minghe gave the two of them a grateful look. She really wanted to take care of her mother more now. After discussing everything, Chen Changli and Wan Shufang did not bother her anymore and got up and left.
Back in the room, before the two had time to sit down, a dart suddenly pierced through the window paper and came in, hitting the wall with a "dong" sound.
Chen Changli stared at the white paper ball tied to the dart with sharp eyes. He walked over and took it off. He opened the note and what caught his eyes was an extremely arrogant sentence.
"The game is about to begin."
"It's the people behind this. It seems they already know that we rescued Madam Luo. What does this sentence mean..." Wan Shufang murmured, her mind in a mess, still thinking about the meaning of this sentence.
Chen Changli also shook his head, obviously not knowing what the other party wanted to do. Because of a note, the atmosphere in the room became solemn again.
Less than half an incense stick of time passed, before the two of them could figure out what was going on, there was a sudden commotion at the entrance of the inn, and a lot of people gathered.
They shouted that they must enter the inn, and kept repeating the names of Chen Changli and Wan Shufang.
The door was knocked hastily, and the secret guard half-knelt on the ground, his eyes showing fear: "Master, Madam, there are a bunch of people outside, clamoring to come in, and shouting your names."
Hearing this, Chen Changli looked down from the window and saw the dazed expressions of the people who just wanted to force their way in. His face suddenly changed.
"Oh no, Shufang, let's go."
"Go find Minghe."
The two of them moved quickly and came to the next room. Without time to explain, Chen Changli directly carried Madam Luo on his back, and under the cover of the secret guards, the group hurriedly left through the back door.
But before he had run far, someone in the crowd suddenly shouted.
"They ran out the back door, chase them."
"Don't let them get away."
"Catch Chen Changli, catch Wan Shufang."
The common people chased after them in a crowd, and the noise was so loud that even Chen Changli and his companions could hear it while they were running away. Several of them quickened their pace. With so many people around, they could not possibly hurt anyone, so they could only run, wishing they could grow four legs to escape.
Soon, a strange scene of chasing each other began to unfold in the Bhikkhu City.
