Chapter 73 Little Emotions
Chapter 73 Little Emotions
Darong stayed in Dacheng with Zhong Yunxing's family for three days. On the sixth day of the New Year, she finally set out for home.
When we went back, my cousin found a pair of suitable velvet cotton shoes for Darong. Although the homemade cotton shoes were not as fashionable as the leather shoes, the warm and soft feel of the shoes was a comfort that the leather shoes could not provide.
"Take a break, Darong. The wind is too strong."
When the bike was halfway through, Zhong Yunxing called Darong to stop. Today, they had been riding against the wind since they got on the main road. Although the wind was not strong, the road was too long, and Darong was already exhausted halfway through.
In fact, Zhong Yunxing saw that Darong was struggling, so he stopped the car and took a rest.
Darong nodded, followed Zhong Yunxing, pedaled forward a little further, and stopped the car next to a low stone wall.
There were fewer cars at that time, and the roads were not as wide as they are now. A provincial road only had two lanes, one up and one down.
Darong sat by the low wall and rubbed her sore ankle with her hand. At this rate, she would probably not get home until dark.
"If I had known that it would be windy on the road, I should have set out early today."
Zhong Yunxing parked the car and sat next to Darong. He unscrewed the lid of the military water bottle and handed it to Darong.
"I'm not thirsty. Let's take a rest and then set off early, otherwise we won't get home until dark." Darong shook her head and did not take the kettle.
The warm winter sun shines softly on Darong's face, and her already fair skin looks particularly clear under the reflection of the sun.
Zhong Yunxing sat on one side, looking at Da Rong beside him, with twinkling lights in his eyes.
"You look so good!"
Zhong Yunxing exclaimed unconsciously, then turned his eyes away and dared not look again. For him, who was always old-fashioned, this simple compliment was a shy love talk.
However, Darong just smiled slightly. She did not realize how much love was hidden in Zhong Yunxing's ordinary compliment.
A breeze blew by, and Da Rong, who was sweating slightly, shivered unconsciously in the cold wind.
"It's quite cold." Darong said subconsciously.
"Yeah, it's quite cold." Zhong Yunxing responded by tightening the buttons of his military coat.
In fact, it would have been better if Zhong Yunxing didn't answer. Instead, this question made Darong feel lonely.
He did not take off his cotton coat and wrap Darong like the male protagonist in the TV series, but wrapped himself tightly.
In every young girl’s dream, there is always a period of expectation for a domineering president, but Zhong Yunxing obviously doesn’t understand.
"Let's go." Darong's mood suddenly became low. She stood up, pushed the car and continued on her way.
Zhong Yunxing didn't know what he had done wrong, but he was deducted a point for no apparent reason.
During the rest of the journey, neither of them spoke to each other. Darong was talking because of her own emotions, but Zhong Yunxing just thought it was because the journey was long and the wind was fast and he couldn't speak.
Therefore, the romance in that era is mostly a blessing in the imagination of later generations, and the most real misunderstanding of romance is played out in more ordinary days.
"You should go back soon. It's getting dark. I can turn in by myself."
As soon as they arrived at the entrance of the dormitory alley, Darong said to Zhong Yunxing behind her.
"No food to eat?"
In fact, Zhong Yunxing didn't notice Darong's mood changes along the way, but the words that urged him to go home made him hear some clues.
In the past, with Darong's personality, she would have let him go home and drink some hot water before leaving. But today, she ordered him to leave before he even reached the door, which was equivalent to directly telling Zhong Yunxing that she was angry.
Although Zhong Yunxing is a straight man, he is not stupid. After noticing Darong's emotional changes, he immediately began to recall and review his performance of the day, but it was obvious that he didn't know where he went wrong.
Seeing that Darong didn't say anything, he followed her silently all the way to Darong's house.
"You're back, come in and warm up."
The two people pushed the cart into the yard, and Darong's mother quickly opened the door to welcome them in. She knew that they would be back today and had been waiting at home all day.
"Hua Zi, go and bring in the dumplings from the pot."
After the two entered the house, Da Rong's mother quickly told the third child to serve the meal. The Spring Festival for northerners is a gathering of various dumplings, and almost the entire first month of the year is spent making dumplings.
"Mom, I'm not hungry. I'm going to rest for a while."
Darong went straight into the small room with a tired look on her face, leaving Zhong Yunxing sitting on the sofa a little awkwardly.
After Darong's mother exchanged a few words of greeting with Zhong Yunxing, there was no more topic to talk about. Seeing Darong lying in the house and refusing to come out after she came back, she was worried that something unpleasant had happened.
After eating a plate of dumplings, Zhong Yunxing continued to sit on the sofa with no intention of leaving. Even Xiaoying could see the awkwardness between the two of them.
"Did they have a fight?" Darong's mother asked in a low voice while looking at Zhong Yunxing.
"It was fine when I went out. I didn't figure it out either." Zhong Yunxing scratched his head embarrassedly.
"If you don't understand, go in and ask."
Darong's mother raised her chin towards the inner room. She could see that if Zhong Yunxing didn't figure things out today, he would have to sit here all night.
"Hey!" Zhong Yunxing stepped into the small room in one step as if he had received an imperial decree.
Xiaoying covered her mouth and laughed secretly, glancing at the third brother who was also trying not to laugh.
Darong was lying on the bed with her back to the door. After Zhong Yunxing came in, he carefully sat down beside the bed and gently pulled Darong's sleeve with his hand.
Darong didn't say anything either, she just pulled her arm back, still with her back facing Zhong Yunxing.
"What's wrong, Darong? I have to die knowingly. I have to read out the charges before I'm executed."
Zhong Yunxing leaned over, got close to Darong's ear and asked in a low voice.
This small inner room in Darong's house has no door and is usually separated by a curtain, so the slightest noise can be heard clearly in the outer room.
Even though Zhong Yunxing had lowered his voice to the lowest level, it still couldn't resist the little ears standing at the door.
Darong's mother smiled and pointed at the third child who was leaning against the wall. She raised her hand as if to hit him, signaling him not to eavesdrop. However, this obviously did not curb the third child's curiosity.
Seeing that Darong still didn't say anything or turn her head, Zhong Yunxing hesitated for a while and then put his face close to Darong's.
The two of them were so close that Darong could clearly feel Zhong Yunxing's breathing.
Darong sat up suddenly and was about to say something when she saw Zhong Yunxing making faces and pouting towards the door.
Darong looked at the shadow of the third brother reflected on the door curtain, rolled her eyes at Zhong Yunxing, and remained silent tacitly.
Although Zhong Yunxing stopped talking, he kept bowing to Darong and begging for mercy, winking and poking his lips. His funny look made Darong unable to hold back her laughter.
Darong burst out laughing, and Zhong Yunxing's heart fell into his stomach with a thump.
