Chapter 462 Deadly Assassin
Chapter 462 Deadly Assassin
"In order to maximize the lethality of that killer weapon, we need to find a reliable helper." Long Weiwei detailed the plan and then instructed Assistant Wang, "Go and execute it quickly."
The next afternoon, Long Weiwei couldn't wait to see how her plan was going.
"Has everything been arranged with Aunt Zhang?" She pursed her lips and twisted the lipstick back into the tube.
"As you instructed, I've already had her apply for a housekeeping position at the Peninsula Hotel as a 'fellow villager'. She'll be on the night shift at 8 o'clock tonight." Special Assistant Wang pulled up a photo of Zhang's mother. The middle-aged woman on the screen was wearing a housekeeping uniform, her eyes holding a perfectly timid expression. "We've already paid for her daughter's surgery. She's absolutely reliable."
"For a person like Pei Luonan, the only way to truly grasp his weakness is to make him completely 'lose control'." Long Weiwei raised the corners of her lips at herself in the mirror, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in her eyes.
When they first met at the summit half a month ago, Pei Luonan stood under the spotlight and talked freely, the watch exposed on his suit cuff reflecting a cold light. At that moment, she knew that this man must be hers.
This long-planned drama is finally about to begin in front of the most important audience.
After the banquet, Pei Luonan returned to the hotel, untied his tie and threw it on the sofa. His black suit, which smelled of alcohol from the dinner, was draped over the back of the chair, revealing the ironed white shirt underneath.
The cup of hangover tea on the bedside table glowed amber. He rubbed his swollen temples, picked up the cup and took a sip. As the mellow tea slid down his throat, it concealed a subtle bitterness.
The wind outside the window blew the remaining snow against the glass, making a crackling sound.
Pei Luonan was about to walk to the window and close it when he suddenly felt dizzy and his legs felt heavy as if they were filled with lead. He held onto the cold bedside table to steady himself, and the moment his fingertips touched the wall of the cup, he finally realized that the teacup man had made a move.
"Who did it?" He gritted his teeth and tried to touch his cell phone, but his vision gradually blurred and his body fell uncontrollably onto the bed.
At the last moment of my fading consciousness, the bathroom door was gently pushed open.
Long Weiwei walked out wrapped in a silk white bathrobe, her long hair wet and draped over her shoulders. Water droplets slid down her neck into the open neckline, outlining her seductive curves.
She walked to the bedside, looked down at the sleeping Pei Luonan, and gently stroked his tense jawline with her fingertips: "Don't blame me, blame Gu Fanxing for blocking my way."
She quickly took off her bathrobe and put on Pei Luonan's black shirt.
The hem of her shirt barely covered her thighs, and she had deliberately ripped two buttons off her collarbone, revealing the pale red marks left by her nails. She combed her long hair into a messy mess and dabbed some eye drops into the corners of her eyes, ensuring they were just the right amount of moisture.
After doing all this, she lay back on the bed, adjusted herself to curl up in Pei Luonan's arms, with her right hand on his waist and her left hand gently pulling at the front of his open shirt.
The miniature camera in the vent was facing them, clearly recording the disheveled scene.
Gu Fanxing stood at the door dragging a beige canvas suitcase, holding the room card information sent by Pei Luonan yesterday.
She deliberately didn't tell him about the early flight, wanting to give him a surprise.
When she was about to ring the doorbell, she found that the door was not closed tightly and there was a gap.
The scene she saw when she pushed open the door was like an ice pick piercing her heart - Long Weiwei was wearing Pei Luonan's shirt and lying in his arms. The quilts of both of them had slipped to their waists. Pei Luonan's shirt was open, revealing a large area of cold white skin, and Long Weiwei's cheek was pressed against his chest, with even a satisfied smile on the corner of her mouth.
The air solidified at this moment.
Gu Fanxing looked at the stiletto heels scattered on the carpet and the faint red marks on Long Weiwei's neck, her fingertips trembling uncontrollably.
"Pei Luonan..." Her voice was as dry as sandpaper.
Long Weiwei seemed to be awakened and sat up hurriedly, with the hem of her shirt pulled up, revealing her white thighs.
She looked towards the door blankly. When she saw Gu Fanxing, a trace of calculation flashed across her eyes, and then it was replaced by complete panic and confusion. She frantically pulled the quilt in front of her: "You... who are you? Why are you here?"
Gu Fanxing's heart sank suddenly, as if it was thrown into an ice cellar.
She stared at the familiar shirt on Long Weiwei, her voice trembling with coldness.
"I gave him this shirt for his birthday last year."
Long Weiwei's expression became even more confused, as if she had just escaped from chaos.
"What shirt? I... I'm drunk and dizzy..."
She pretended to be flustered and turned to look at Pei Luonan on the bed, then turned back abruptly, with just the right amount of vigilance in her eyes, "Do you know him?"
This completely unfamiliar attitude is more hurtful than any excuse.
Gu Fanxing glanced deeply at Pei Luonan on the bed. He still had his eyes closed, but his brows furrowed even tighter, as if he were enduring some kind of pain. She didn't say anything else, but bent down to pick up the handle of the suitcase, turned around and gently closed the door. The sound of her high heels on the carpet in the hallway, step by step, crushed her heart, gradually fading away, leaving no ripples.
Until the footsteps completely disappeared in the direction of the elevator entrance, the confusion on Long Weiwei's face instantly faded away, replaced by a twisted sense of pride.
She looked down at Pei Luonan in her arms, and was about to say something else when she met his suddenly opened eyes.
There was no confusion in it, only an icy chill, as if looking at a dirty object.
"Long, Wei, Wei." Pei Luonan's voice was very hoarse, but every word was spoken with gritted teeth.
"You're looking for death." He pushed her away with such force that she hit the bed frame hard, and a sharp pain came from her lower back.
"Mr. Pei!" Long Weiwei got up and tried to stop him, but he pushed her away fiercely.
"Listen to my explanation! I was really drunk and I don't remember anything!"
Pei Luonan didn't look back. When he opened the door, the cold wind from the corridor rushed in, instantly sobering him up.
He walked straight towards the elevator, completely unaware of the footprints belonging to Gu Fanxing left on the carpet at the elevator entrance.
Long Weiwei caught up with him, tears streaking down her face, looking pitiful. "Boss Pei, I really don't know what happened. I got too much alcohol at the dinner party, and when I woke up... I became like this..."
"Shut up."
Pei Luonan's voice was as cold as ice.
"As for Long's project, have the Legal Department terminate cooperation tomorrow. Also, be prepared to bear the consequences."
He called Kong Haoyu, his voice as cold as ice: "Find out everyone who has entered my room and give me the results tomorrow."
After hanging up the phone, a message from Gu Fanxing came in: "Luonan, there are some emergencies at the site. We must rush to the site as soon as possible to conduct excavations that will be closed for half a month. We will not be able to meet or contact you."
His fingertips paused, and he edited the message: "Okay."
In Long Weiwei's car, Special Assistant Wang handed over the encrypted USB drive: "Ms. Long, all the footage has been backed up, and the surveillance footage of Miss Gu leaving has also been saved."
Long Weiwei took the USB drive, stroked the cold metal shell with her fingertips, and a hint of ruthlessness and confidence in victory flashed in her eyes.
Gu Fanxing? Just a passerby who will be replaced soon.
"Lock it in the safe." She stuffed the USB drive into her handbag and said in a cold voice, "The fun has just begun."
Special Assistant Wang nodded in agreement, started the car and drove into the night.
Long Weiwei looked at the street scenes passing by outside the window, holding the USB flash drive in her handbag - she was sure to win this battle.
In the west city homestay, Gu Fanxing sat by the window, watching the snow falling outside, turned off her cell phone and put it on the bedside table.
She wanted to isolate herself from everything about Pei Luonan, but the scene in the hotel room kept replaying in her mind.
The snow outside the window was falling heavier and heavier, landing on the roof of the B&B, making a rustling sound, as if playing a silent and sad elegy for this unknown departure.
But she didn't know that the web that Long Weiwei had carefully woven had quietly tightened.
