Chapter 1450 Lin Shenjianyu: Marriage Doesn't Seem So Bad
She went to the kitchen, which was open-plan and connected to the living room. The cabinets were dark brown, and the countertops were white, clean and tidy. A thermos was on the countertop. She opened it; inside were sandwiches and milk, still slightly warm. She poured the milk into a cup, put it in the microwave to heat it, and watched the cup spin inside. Her thoughts drifted away again.
In the days to come, will she get up early to prepare breakfast, and Lin Junze hug her from behind, whispering "Good morning" in her ear? Will the two of them work together in the kitchen, dividing the tasks, with laughter filling the entire space?
Sunlight gradually filtered through the gaps in the curtains, illuminating the living room. The warm yellow light bathed her, giving her a comforting touch.
Wang Yuran carried the warm milk to the French windows, gently pulled back the curtains a crack, and looked out. The trees in the neighborhood were lush and green, sunlight filtering through the leaves and casting dappled shadows on the ground. Occasionally, birds hopped among the branches, chirping sweetly. A faint, pleasant fragrance of grass and trees filled the air.
She leaned against the window, sipping her milk, gazing tenderly at the scenery outside, yet her thoughts remained racing. Lin Junze's earlier words, like a pebble, had stirred ripples in her heart, clearly having a profound impact on her.
She never imagined she would so seriously consider a future with someone again. Before, she was used to struggling alone, facing all the hardships alone, and felt that marriage was a distant and heavy thing for her. But Lin Junze's appearance—his persistence, his protection, his gentleness—gradually eroded her inner defenses.
She glanced down at her shirt, Lin Junze's scent still lingering in her nostrils. She could clearly feel that her feelings for this man were no longer just the youthful infatuation she had felt. After spending these days together, after experiencing both danger and security, those feelings had deepened and matured.
She began to look forward to the days when they would live together, to seeing his face every morning when she woke up, to facing life's little moments together, to him becoming her support and her becoming his haven.
The sunlight grew brighter, illuminating the entire room and filling every corner with warmth. Wang Yuran's mood gradually brightened as well. Lin Junze's words had planted a seed in her heart—a seed of love and the future—that was slowly taking root and sprouting.
Just as she was completely absorbed in this tender daydream, her phone suddenly vibrated in her pocket, breaking the silence of the room. She paused for a moment, then took out her phone. The screen displayed the three words "Lin Junze," followed by a series of rapid message notifications, like a string of cheerful notes, pulling her back to reality from her reverie.
She unlocked her phone, and what greeted her eyes was a series of reports from Lin Junze, his words revealing an undisguised desire to share: "Yu Ran, I've arrived at the airport. There aren't many people, so the queue won't be too long."
Next is a photo of the airport waiting area, taken at a somewhat casual angle, showing the sunlight by the window and the boarding gate in the distance. "I just bought a sandwich at the airport convenience store, the same tuna flavor you liked last time. I tried a bite for you, and it tastes the same." Then comes another close-up of the sandwich, the small bite clearly visible, giving it a slightly endearing look.
"Boarding has started. I found my seat, a window seat. I'll take a picture of the clouds in the sky for you to see after takeoff."
Wang Yuran's fingertips swiped across the screen as she read the messages one after another. Her brows furrowed slightly, but the corners of her mouth involuntarily turned upwards, forming a somewhat contradictory curve. She couldn't help but think to herself: "She's already this age, how can she still act like a clueless young girl who's just fallen in love?"
It's just a business trip, but do I really need to report every little thing, from arriving at the airport to what I eat, and even the most trivial things like getting a window seat?
Her eyes held a hint of barely perceptible disdain, but her fingertips subconsciously slowed down the scrolling speed as she carefully examined each message, even zooming in on the photos for a closer look.
Just then, a new message popped up, along with a newly taken photo: "The plane has taken off! Look at the clouds in the sky, they're so soft, and the sunlight shines on them, making them shimmer like gold." The clouds in the photo were edged with gold by the sunlight, fluffy like crumpled cotton, and looked hazy and beautiful when photographed through the porthole.
On the other side, Lin Junze on the plane was holding his phone, his eyes intently staring at the screen, a smile he couldn't hide on his lips.
He knew that reporting every little detail might be a bit too clingy and didn't fit his usual composed image. But he just couldn't control himself; every single second they were apart, he wanted Wang Yuran to know what he was doing, to feel that she was being thought of and cherished.
He overheard his young subordinates saying that this is how young couples these days often do it: sharing every little detail of their daily lives and letting their partner be a part of every moment. He silently made a mental note of it, thinking he had to try it and let Wang Yuran experience this long-lost, pure feeling of love.
More importantly, he had already mentally assumed the role of his fiancé and was thoroughly enjoying it.
In his view, couples who are planning to get married should do this: actively share their lives to give their partner a sense of security and gradually bring them closer together through these small sharing moments.
He imagined Wang Yuran's reaction when she saw these messages. Would she be annoyed or happy? Even if she was annoyed, he wanted to persist because he wanted her to know that his seriousness about this relationship and his cherishing of her were not just empty words.
Looking at the golden clouds in the photo, and then at the text message Lin Junze sent, the disdain in Wang Yuran's eyes gradually faded, replaced by an indescribable warmth. She walked to the sofa and sat down, placing her phone on her lap, her fingertips lightly tapping the screen, but she didn't reply immediately.
She could clearly feel the sincerity and care in Lin Junze's words, and his unreserved desire to share was like a warm current flowing slowly through her heart.
Over the years, she has become accustomed to shouldering everything alone and solving everything on her own. No one has ever reported her daily life to her in such detail before, and no one has ever valued her so much.
Her lips curled up higher and higher, and the smile in her eyes could no longer be hidden, sparkling like stars. Although she was unwilling to admit it, she had to admit that it felt really good to be remembered and cared for like this.
Though separated by a thousand miles, the two of them found themselves immersed in this warm and sweet atmosphere through their phone screens.
A thought suddenly popped into Wang Yuran's mind: perhaps marriage isn't so bad after all. If she could feel this warmth and care every day, if she could spend the rest of her life with this clumsy yet sincere man before her, it seemed like a very happy thing...
