Chapter 31: Confession
Chapter 31: Confession
In the palace's study, Yunxi and the prince sat facing each other. The flickering candlelight stretched their shadows far out.
The prince stood straight, with a sense of majesty between his eyebrows, but at this moment, that majesty was mixed with a hint of fatigue.
As for Yunxi, her hair was a little messy and her face looked a little pale.
The prince spoke first. He stared at Yunxi without blinking, his voice low and powerful: "Yunxi, I have been thinking about you in my heart these days."
After hearing this, Yunxi lowered her head slightly, pursed her lips, and whispered, "Prince, me too." After that, she raised her head again, tears in her eyes, twinkling.
The prince stretched out his big, thick hand, grabbed Yunxi's slender hand, and holding it tightly, he said, "During the days I was looking for you, my heart was never at ease. I was afraid that I would never see you again in this life."
Yunxi's hand was held by the prince. She trembled slightly and a blush appeared on her face.
The prince continued, "Yunxi, you don't know how distressed I've been these days."
Yunxi bit her lip and said, "Your Majesty, I can't eat or sleep well outside either."
The prince frowned and said distressedly, "It's hard for you."
Yunxi shook her head and said, "As long as I can see the prince again, I'm not afraid of any hardship."
The prince held Yunxi's hand tighter and said, "I will never let you suffer like this again."
Yunxi felt the warmth of the prince's palm and said, "I suffered a lot during my days living on the streets, but all I thought about was the prince."
The prince frowned slightly and said, "It's all my fault. I failed to protect you."
The prince's sword-like brows were tightly furrowed, his deep eyes were full of guilt, and his tall body leaned forward slightly, as if he wanted to convey all his apologies to Yunxi in front of him.
Yunxi shook her head and said, "It's not your fault, Your Highness. There are just too many troubles in this world."
As Yunxi spoke, she gently raised her hand and stroked the prince's sleeve. Her watery eyes looked at the prince, without a trace of resentment in them, only endless tenderness.
The prince held Yunxi's hand tightly and said with a firm look, "Yunxi, I want to tell you that since I met you, my heart no longer belongs to me."
The prince held Yunxi's hand more and more tightly, as if it was the most precious treasure in his life and he was afraid that he would lose it if he was not careful.
His eyes were fixed on Yunxi, so hot that they seemed to melt people.
Yunxi blushed slightly and said, "Your Majesty, what merits and virtues have Yunxi possessed to deserve such great love from you."
Yunxi's face instantly turned like a ripe apple. She lowered her head slightly, not daring to look directly into the prince's fiery gaze. Her hands unconsciously twisted the corners of her clothes, and she looked a little uneasy.
The prince stood up, walked to the window, looked out at the night, and said, "Yunxi, you are brave and kind, and your medical skills are superb. Every aspect of you makes my heart move."
The prince stood with his hands behind his back, his tall figure appearing even more majestic against the moonlight. He gazed at the inky black night sky and sighed deeply, a sigh filled with helplessness and emotion.
Yunxi also walked up to the prince and said, "Prince, you are of noble status, yet you are so attentive to Yunxi. Yunxi will definitely not let you down."
Yunxi walked to the prince's side, raised her head slightly and looked at him, her eyes full of determination. Her hair fluttered gently in the night breeze, adding a touch of softness to her.
The prince turned around, looked at Yunxi, and said, "The intrigues in the Marquis' Mansion and the power struggles in the court have put us in a difficult situation.
But as long as you are by my side, I have nothing to fear."
A trace of determination flashed in the prince's eyes. He reached out his hand and gently smoothed the hair by Yunxi's ears. His voice was low and powerful: "Yunxi, those conspiracies and tricks, I have never been afraid of them.
But without you, all this fighting is meaningless."
Yunxi nodded and said, "Your Majesty, Yunxi is willing to face it together with you, no matter how many difficulties and obstacles there are ahead."
Yunxi bit her lip, and held the prince's arm tightly with both hands, her eyes full of courage: "Don't worry, Prince, Yunxi will never leave you."
The prince gently stroked Yunxi's hair and said, "Yunxi, I know this journey will be difficult, but as long as we walk hand in hand, we will be able to overcome the difficulties."
Yunxi's eyes were filled with determination as she said, "Don't worry, Your Majesty. Yunxi will definitely do her best."
At this time, a maid hurried in, bowed and said, "Your Highness, Miss Yun, tea is ready."
The prince waved his hand slightly and said indifferently, "Put it on the table. You can go down first."
The maid quickly put down the tea and snacks, and retreated with her head lowered.
The prince pulled Yunxi to the table and sat down, saying with concern, "Come, Yunxi, have something to eat."
Yunxi picked up a piece of cake, took a bite, and a smile spread across her face as she said, "Your Majesty, this cake is so sweet."
The prince looked at Yunxi, his lips curled up slightly, his eyes full of tenderness, and said, "As long as you like it, I will have someone prepare it for you every day."
Yunxi smiled, her eyes curved into crescents, and said, "Prince, please don't pamper Yunxi like this. You will spoil Yunxi."
The prince laughed heartily and said, "I am willing to pamper you."
The two continued to talk about their inner thoughts while eating snacks.
Yunxi frowned slightly and said worriedly, "Your Highness, the Marquis' wife and the daughter have always regarded me as a thorn in their side. I'm afraid they will make things difficult for me in the future."
Upon hearing this, the prince's brows furrowed even more tightly, his expression darkened, and he said, "If they dare to act recklessly again, I will not let them off easily."
Yunxi quickly grasped the prince's arm, shook it gently, and said, "Prince, Yunxi doesn't want to cause you any trouble. I will handle it carefully on my own."
The prince looked serious, staring straight at Yunxi, and said, "Yunxi, don't say that. Those women are vicious and cruel. How can you handle them alone?
This king will never allow them to hurt you in the slightest."
Yunxi sighed softly and said, "Your Highness, Yunxi knows that you love me, but the affairs of the Marquisate are complicated, and you have many things to deal with. Yunxi doesn't want you to worry about this."
The prince slammed the table, stood up, and said loudly: "Yunxi, how could this prince be afraid of those troubles!
Anyone who dares to touch you will be an enemy of this king."
Yunxi also stood up, tugged at the prince's clothes, and said, "Prince, please calm down, Yunxi didn't mean that.
I just don't want Yunxi to put the prince in a dilemma."
The prince took a deep breath, sat down slowly, held Yunxi's hand, and said, "Yunxi, in my heart, you are more important than anything else.
If those people in the Marquis' Mansion behave themselves, that's fine. If they don't, I will make them suffer."
Yunxi said with tears in her eyes, "Your Highness, how could Yunxi be so worthy of such love from Your Highness?"
The prince gently wiped away the tears from Yunxi's eyes with his fingers and said, "Yunxi, you are kind, intelligent, and considerate. It is my blessing to have met you."
Yunxi lowered her head and whispered, "Your Highness, you are too kind. Yunxi is just an ordinary woman."
The prince lifted Yunxi's chin, asked her to look directly into his eyes, and said, "In my eyes, you are unique and unmatched."
Yunxi's face flushed instantly, and she said, "Your Highness..."
The prince held Yunxi's hand again and said, "Yunxi, no matter what happens, I am here for you."
Yunxi nodded vigorously and said, "Your Majesty, Yunxi believes you."
The prince said, "The wife of the Marquis has always been narrow-minded, and the daughter of the emperor is arrogant and unreasonable. You must be more careful.
Avoid contact with them on a daily basis, and if they cause trouble, inform the king immediately."
Yunxi said, "Don't worry, Your Majesty. I will protect myself. I'm just worried they might do something bad behind my back, and I can't defend myself against them."
The prince's eyes were firm as he said, "With me here, they won't dare to act too recklessly. Yunxi, just rest assured."
Yunxi gently leaned on the prince's shoulder and said, "Prince, with your words, Yunxi feels much more at ease."
The prince hugged Yunxi and said, "Yunxi, I will not let anyone hurt you."
The prince held Yunxi's hand and said, "You are my beloved woman. It is my duty to protect you."
Yunxi said with emotion: "Your Majesty..."
The prince said, "There are also those conspiracies and intrigues in the court. We must not take it lightly. Those people are all harboring evil intentions. If we are not careful, we will fall into trouble."
The prince frowned, his eyes filled with worry, and paced back and forth with his hands behind his back.
Yunxi nodded and said, "Yunxi understands and will pay more attention." Yunxi's eyes were firm and his hands were tightly clenched on the corners of his clothes.
The two chatted for a long time, and before they knew it, it was late at night.
The prince said, "Yunxi, you are tired too, so you should rest early." As the prince spoke, he gently patted Yunxi's shoulder, his eyes full of concern.
Yunxi said, "Your Highness, please go to bed early." Yunxi bowed slightly with a gentle smile on her lips.
The prince called the maid and sent Yunxi to the guest room to rest.
Yunxi lay on the bed, tossing and turning, recalling the conversation with the prince, her heart filled with warmth and courage.
She opened her eyes wide, looked at the ceiling, and murmured, "As long as the prince is here, I'm not afraid of anything."
In his study, the prince was still pondering his future path. He sat at his desk, rubbing his temples. The flickering candlelight on the table made his face appear bright and dim.
The next morning, sunlight streamed into the room.
Yunxi got up early, washed up, and went for a walk in the garden. She was wearing a light blue dress, the hem of which fluttered in the wind.
She walked lightly with a refreshing smile on her face.
The flowers in the garden were in full bloom, and Yunxi was in a particularly good mood as she smelled their fragrance. She leaned over and sniffed a delicate flower, her lips curled up, revealing two shallow dimples.
At this time, the prince also came over.
The prince saw Yunxi and said, "Yunxi, did you sleep well last night?" The prince strode towards Yunxi with a gentle smile on his face.
Yunxi smiled and said, "Thank you for your concern, Your Highness. Yunxi slept very well." Yunxi raised her head slightly and looked at the prince, her eyes full of joy.
The prince said, "That's good." He reached out and picked a flower, put it in Yunxi's hair, and said, "This flower suits you perfectly."
The two of them strolled in the garden, continuing to talk to each other.
