Chapter 563 - 550: Hama Demon
Chapter 563 - 550: Hama Demon
Chen Feng had already been at this Gorge Gate for over a month, during which time the friction between Shi Xiong and Yan Xiu became increasingly frequent.
The main reason was that Shi Xiong’s forces frequently crossed boundaries, escalating from provocations once a week to now having conflicts almost every two days. During this month, both sides had casualties.
Shi Xiong’s ambition was evident beyond doubt. Even though Wang Duan had fallen in battle, Shi Xiong, as the leader, managed to stabilize people’s hearts in a short time. However, Yan Xiu was only at the Silver Peak, and with Li Hongyi and other high-ranking members dead, the already restless hearts of people became even more unstable. In this month alone, many had fled to surrounding forces, and even the number of traitorous professionals reached as many as twenty-one. For a time, the entire force was in a state of panic, and morale was about to hit rock bottom.
And at this critical moment, the once-high-profile Chen Feng had not appeared again. Even the warriors stationed at the port did not participate in the open and covert struggles between Shi Xiong and Yan Xiu, aside from their training.
The once-clear Gorge Gate suddenly became incredibly murky, and no one could see the future direction clearly.
And amidst the muddiness of this lake, Chen Feng sat alone in a warehouse, with a demonic shadow looming behind him.
This warehouse had been emptied. In the vast room, Chen Feng sat as the only person, having stayed here for an entire month.
During this month, Chen Feng had successively devoured eight Soul Stones, stabilizing his soul once more and firmly trapping the yet-undestroyed second personality in a corner.
Elwin had not appeared because she had focused all her attention on the auction. The Dark Elf, originally skilled in business, combined with some human concepts, attracted countless buyers around to the auction, and even some devils disguised themselves to participate in it.
The devils’ ability to cross the battlefront and enter the Dark Elves’ realm showed that their strength had reached an astonishing level, and in any dimension, strength is equivalent to wealth.
The devils approached Elwin, claiming they wanted to engage in a weapons trade with her.
In the early stages of the universe, Chaos was everywhere. Demons arrived uninvited, as they inherently embodied chaos. Time had not yet emerged, and out of chaotic nature, demons slaughtered each other in every corner of the universe.
This chaotic situation made the entire universe unbearable, so an opposing force emerged — Order. The war between Order and demons began.
The newly born gods of Order donned armor constructed from pure Order power and wielded weapons for their ideals. Then they launched fierce attacks on demons. This war lasted for countless centuries. The deities of Order created sacred texts to record their achievements; they also created time because they wanted to know how long it would take to achieve final victory.
And through some chance and the oversight of the deities of Order, a new race was inadvertently created.
That was Devils.
In the entire plane, there were two dimensions that even troubled the Evil Gods, one being the Bottomless Abyss and the other, the Bator Hell.
Bator Hell was renowned for its purity and diverse vileness compared to the Bottomless Abyss. Devils were more cunning, sly, and dangerous than other Purgatory creatures — if you described them that way. Whereas demons indulged in desirable, mad, and evil powers, devils always had agendas, battle plans, and meticulously nurtured conspiracies for necessary revenge.
Bator consisted of nine layers, each lower than the last, forming a downward protrusion into the deeper Purgatory. Each lower layer gave travelers a better view in general; all layers together seemed like a puzzle, and each new descent offered travelers a deeper understanding of how the puzzle fitted together. It was the temptation of evil.
The Nine Hells were the homes of various devils and some wicked True Gods.
The largest population in the Nine Hells comprised various devils: Tyrant Demons, Fear Demons, Desire Demons, Chilu Demons, Hama Demons, Aosai Demons, Deep Prison Refining Demons, and countless other hierarchical devils. Various devils were very willing to engage in complex transactions with travelers and mortals from the material world.
Besides devils, creatures such as Hellcats, Hellhounds, Imps, Chain Demons, Nightmares, and even Evil Beast Ghosts called the Nine Hells home. Some brave mortals also established permanent homes in the Nine Hells, residing in powerful fortresses guarded by low-tier demons bound with short-term contracts.
Of course, such brave souls were very few and far between. Even Golden Tier strongmen entering the devil’s fortress had no chance of survival. Yes, there were no risks or narrow escapes — it was sheer death with absolutely no chance of survival!
Only those with Legendary Tier strength had the rights to venture into Hell.
Previously, Chen Feng had brief clashes with devils, where opponents he faced were Scorpion Demons and Bone Demons. At this time, the one approaching Elwin was a Hama Demon, also known as a Spine Demon.
Hama Demons favored using their claws to attack, attempting to pierce through their opponents. They employed the human Immobility Skill on foes who dodged their attacks to incapacitate them.
From the constantly swinging long tail to its sinister face filled with sharp teeth, this demon guardian, with eyes ablaze, was covered with countless spikes all over its body.
As the sentry of the treasury in the Ninth Hell and the prison of dark souls, and simultaneously the living weapon of the hell army—it often executed vigilance and surveillance tasks under the strict and evil orders of high-tier demons. The Hama Demon loved the warm feeling of fresh blood flowing between its spikes, so it particularly enjoyed finding any opportunity to engage in close combat on the battlefield.
The Hama Demon also took on the role of collector and organizer, so those greedy casters coveting the wealth of Hell’s Treasury often summoned the Hama Demon to acquire the treasures they guarded or to find ways to obtain wealth.
This demon is not considered a high-tier demon; in a Hell where bloodlines are valued, it’s only at the guardian level, akin to the Abyssal Enchantress, belonging to the middle tier.
However, it possesses certain traits, namely wealth collection. Among the astounding tycoons in the Devil World, six out of ten are Hama Demons, hence, although their strength and bloodline are not outstanding, they have an incredible talent for business.
Crossing the frontline to reach Elwin’s side, the Hama Demon’s purpose was singular: to establish trade relations with Elwin.
The first deal involved as many as a thousand enhanced weapons!
A thousand weapons!
The Hama Demon was well-informed; through certain channels, it learned about Elwin’s weapon trafficking, and for this reason, it dared to cross the battlefield to arrive at this auction house.
For this transaction, the Hama Demon showed great sincerity, offering in addition to some invaluable ores, a purchase list that even included three Desire Demons.
Elwin immediately notified Chen Feng, who accepted the proposal after drafting a contract. Within two years, Elwin was required to supply the Hama Demon with ten thousand weapons, including some high-explosive grenades and demon and martial cannons.
Considering it from a racial standpoint, Chen Feng undoubtedly became a traitor.
However, though his bloodline and body had transformed into that of a demon, his soul and consciousness remained controlled by a human, which was also why the second personality was suppressed.
From the very beginning, Chen Feng regarded the demon’s body as a weapon. His task was to control this weapon to battle for himself, rather than become enslaved.
Once the devils obtained these weapons, they would undoubtedly cause some damage to the demons, but what did that matter to Chen Feng?
He was merely a businessman.
As an arms dealer, Chen Feng thrived on war profits. Once conflicts arose, weapons would inevitably suffer losses, and in such a scenario, Chen Feng’s business would flourish, enabling him to obtain everything he desired.
The blood war between the demons and devils had persisted for over a thousand years, each possessing its own trump card. A thousand weapons, though seemingly terrifying, were like pebbles thrown into a lake, hardly playing a crucial role, merely causing some pain to the demons.
Furthermore, as the power of blacksmiths and enchanters grew, enhancement techniques also advanced. The weapons sold to the Hama Demon were only enhanced +1 weapons, but with forging techniques and factories operational, the new batch of weapons from Order had already reached +2 or even +3 level on a large scale.
What Chen Feng was doing now was clearly selling outdated weapons to the devils. If war broke out one day, his own weapons would undoubtedly be a higher grade, and the strength of either side would be immediately apparent.
The trade thus commenced, but Chen Feng made some changes in his purchases. The strength of Desire Demons wasn’t prominent. Among the Devil’s Faction, their power was somewhat weaker, serving as concubines, while the stronger ones might even become commanders or advisors.
However, giving Elwin Desire Demons was superfluous to requirements, so Chen Feng did not accept those alluring demons, but had them exchanged for exotic eggs. Through previous battles, the significance of exotics was even more valuable than some Silver Peak warriors, so Chen Feng aimed to expand the number of exotics, initially planning to create a team of over a hundred.
Aside from that, the rest of the ores were correspondingly reduced. In the trade list, Elwin emphasized to the Hama Demon what he needed, which was Soul Stones!
The Hama Demon, being a born merchant, quickly completed the payment!
And during this month, the fundamental reason Chen Feng hadn’t gone out was precisely because he was absorbing these Soul Stones, attempting to enhance the quality of his soul!
