Chapter 491 Dual Cultivation is Just Studying Jade Slips Together, Right? RIGHT?
Chu Shuran even began wondering things she absolutely should not be wondering.
"What exactly is wrong with me..."
Her cheeks burned with embarrassment.
At that moment, Chu Shuran suddenly stood up from her cultivation mat.
"No. I can’t stay here any longer."
If she continued meditating alone, she feared her imagination would only grow worse.
She needed a distraction. Someone to help stabilize her emotions.
Without hesitation, Chu Shuran quickly left her room and headed deeper into the clan.
The night breeze brushed against her face as she walked through the quiet pathways illuminated by spirit lanterns.
Several guards greeted her respectfully, but she barely noticed them.
Her thoughts remained chaotic.
Eventually, she arrived at a secluded courtyard hidden behind a bamboo garden.
This place was known only to a select few within the clan.
And inside it lived someone Chu Shuran trusted deeply.
Someone she shared an extremely close relationship with.
Standing before the door, Chu Shuran hesitated briefly before taking a slow breath.
Then finally...
Knock. Knock.
"It’s me," she said softly.
There was silence for several long breaths before the heavy stone door of the secret chamber slowly creaked open.
Ancient runes engraved across the walls glowed faintly as spiritual energy drifted through the air like mist.
The atmosphere inside the chamber was dense and oppressive, proof that someone had been cultivating there for a very long time without interruption.
At the center of the chamber sat a handsome middle-aged man in a lotus position.
His robes fluttered slightly from the spiritual pressure surrounding him, and a faint golden aura pulsed around his body before gradually fading away.
However, his expression was far from pleasant. He was frowning deeply.
Clearly, he did not appreciate being disturbed during such an important stage of cultivation.
"Ran’er..." the man said slowly, opening his eyes with visible dissatisfaction.
"Didn’t I tell you not to disturb me during my closed-door cultivation? I am currently at a critical bottleneck. If my concentration is broken carelessly, the consequences could be severe. I..."
But before he could even finish his sentence...
"Whoosh!"
A fragrant figure suddenly rushed toward him at astonishing speed.
The man’s pupils shrank slightly in surprise as Chu Shuran practically threw herself into his arms.
Before he could react, her soft lips were already pressed fiercely against his own.
"Mmm!"
The sudden kiss completely stunned him.
His mind blanked for a moment as Chu Shuran wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, kissing him with an intensity he had never experienced from her before.
Her breathing was uneven, hot breaths constantly brushing against his face while her body trembled faintly against his chest.
"What’s gotten into her?" the man thought inwardly in complete shock.
Chu Shuran had always been calm, elegant, and reserved.
Even when expressing affection, she maintained the graceful demeanor expected of the Chu Clan’s proud daughter.
But now?
It was as though all restraint had disappeared.
Her cheeks were flushed a beautiful shade of red, and her usually cold eyes were filled with strange emotions... desperation, longing, embarrassment, and something dangerously intoxicating.
The man tried pulling back slightly to speak.
"Ran’er, wait..."
But Chu Shuran refused to let him create any distance between them.
Almost as though afraid he would reject her, she tightened her embrace and kissed him again before he could continue speaking.
The man could feel her racing heartbeat clearly through their bodies.
Something was wrong.
Very wrong.
Yet before he could ask further questions, Chu Shuran suddenly buried her face against his shoulder, her voice soft and trembling.
"Don’t speak..."
Her tone carried an unusual pleading quality that immediately made the man pause.
Outside, the secret chamber remained silent and isolated from the world, but inside, the quiet atmosphere had already completely changed.
The earlier stillness of cultivation gradually disappeared, replaced by hurried breathing, rustling robes, and faint sounds of suppressed emotion echoing softly within the room.
The man could only hold her waist helplessly, still utterly confused about what had happened during the short time they had been apart.
However, despite his confusion, he could clearly feel the warmth of the woman clinging tightly to him, as though she desperately needed his presence at this moment.
And for the first time in many years, the dignified cultivator found himself completely unable to maintain his calm state of mind.
The two of them remained inside the secluded chamber for a very long time.
The quiet room that had once been filled only with spiritual energy and silence was now overflowing with warmth, hurried breathing, and lingering affection.
Hours seemed to pass like fleeting moments as Chu Shuran clung closely to her husband, refusing to leave his side even for a second.
What shocked the man the most was not her sudden boldness earlier, but the fact that she showed no signs of stopping.
Usually, Chu Shuran was composed and dignified, the very image of grace within the Chu Clan.
Yet today, she acted completely differently, almost as though she feared that if she let go of him for even a moment, something terrible would happen.
Several rounds later, the man finally leaned back slightly, looking at the flushed beauty in his arms with both concern and confusion.
"What happened, honey?" he asked softly while brushing several loose strands of hair away from her face. "You’ve been acting strange since entering this chamber."
Chu Shuran paused briefly when she heard his gentle voice.
For a split second, a complicated look flashed through her beautiful eyes.
But it disappeared just as quickly.
"Nothing," she replied softly before resting her head against his chest once more. "I just missed you."
The man stared at her for a moment.
After spending so many years together, how could he not sense that she was hiding something?
Yet seeing the unusual vulnerability in her eyes made him swallow the questions he wanted to ask.
Before he could continue speaking, Chu Shuran lifted her head slightly and looked at him again.
"Can we go for another?" she asked quietly.
The man blinked in surprise.
