Chapter 649: Code Black (5)
Chapter 649: Code Black (5)
Madison reappeared a short distance away, still smiling as she flicked the blood off her claws with a casual flick of her wrist.
She tilted her head upward, her eyes locking onto Sylas — who stood tall with his double-edged sword resting across his shoulder — and Konquest, who gripped his massive war staff with one hand, its head crackling with restrained power.
Then, from behind the two men, the horrors began to appear.
HUMMMMM!!!!
They came in endless waves, pouring out of the cracked void like a tidal surge of nightmares.
Their numbers were so vast that the champions below couldn’t even begin to count them.
The sky darkened as the swarm blotted out the light, a writhing mass of grotesque forms — multi-limbed abominations, void-like silhouettes with too many eyes, and colossal horrors whose bodies constantly broke and reformed in unnatural ways.
*At this point add in more immersion, the roars, the sounds.*
Their collective presence pressed down on the battlefield like a physical weight.
At the same moment, the Divine Horrors already on the battlefield let out a unified, deafening roar and screech.
Their power surged violently, climbing rapidly until they matched Sylas and Konquest at the 32nd Dimensional Level.
The entire battlefield trembled under the sudden spike in power.
Madison threw her head back and laughed — a loud, maddening sound filled with pure delight.
"You ask and you shall receive," she said, turning back toward the Ineffable Pantheon’s platform with a wide grin.
"Looks like my Husband will be showing up soon after all."
On the floating platform, the members of the Ineffable Pantheon began to rise with various degrees of excitement.
Lucy stretched her arms above her head, her multicolored eyes sparkling with anticipation.
"Finally," she said with a grin. "I was starting to get bored just watching."
Rune lip twitched as she crossed her arms.
"I guess he’s hell bent on making us fight, huh?"
Kaelthyr, who had been sitting with his wife, gently patted her shoulder.
"Well, since that brat has made his orders clear...." He said as he rose.
They all knew if the Horrors were rising not just to a higher level of power, but to their exact ranks.
Not only that they could tell with a glance that Sylas and Konquest were not slouches. So, they knew there little game was now over.
"You just sit here pretty," he said with a soft smile. "I’ll be back soon."
----
Amidst the chaos that raged around them, the Forbidden Essences stood firmly by the side of Existence, positioned deep in the very heart of the battlefield.
They had been fighting for the past hour.
Yet despite the difference in power, they had facing against the Horrors until just moments ago, their bodies bore the marks and scars of countless encounters, each wound telling the tale of their relentless fight to hold their ground.
The Forbidden Essence of Null drifted in place, its shadowy form shifting and writhing, golden fractures along its surface glowing in uneven pulses as it struggled to steady itself.
The Forbidden Essence of Foundations loomed like a weathered monument, its stone-like body marred by jagged fissures.
The Forbidden Essence of New Beginnings flickered in a frantic rhythm, its glow dimmer and more erratic than it once was.
The Forbidden Essence of All twisted chaotically through endless shapes, fighting to keep from unraveling entirely.
The Forbidden Essence of Reckoning clutched its weapon with unyielding force, the cracked blaze of its crown sputtering, as though it were only moments from burning out.
They had arrived to help stem the tide of horrors, but what unfolded before them was far worse than anything they’d seen in the past hour.
A sudden burst of energy from Sylas and Konquest slammed into them like a tangible force.
The newcomers exuded an immense 32nd Dimensional power, their very presence weighing down on the battlefield like an unseen mountain.
Meanwhile, the Divine Horrors already there bellowed and shrieked, their strength surging rapidly until it matched that same overwhelming 32nd Dimensional level.
The Forbidden Essence of Null’s layered voice echoed with clear tension.
"...I don’t know what the hell is going on." It said, "But this is not the Father’s work... this is just too much even for us."
The Forbidden Essence of Foundations rumbled its cracked stone body creaking as it tried to stabilize itself.
"You’re not wrong... We’ve been fighting these horrors for an hour... and now this? If we don’t do something, we won’t last much longer."
The Forbidden Essence of New Beginnings flickered rapidly, its glow fading as it spoke with a clear sense of unease.
"If this continues, we may have to resort to our most desperate measure. But... are we truly prepared to use it when the Father’s forbidden creations have yet to emerge?"
Throughout the course of time, whenever the forbidden creations of both the Mother and the Father were unleashed...
It was always because the balance of the game had begun to falter, and sooner or later, they would inevitably clash with each other.
Yet, both sides knew their forbidden creations possessed a hidden trump card—one that could only be played in the direst of circumstances.
And still, up until now, they had encountered nothing but horrors, making the idea of revealing something so carefully guarded far too risky at this stage.
Once it was used, there would be no turning back—they would be forced into their sealed states once again.
The Forbidden Essence of All shifted between countless forms, its voice layered with unease.
"We should wait... Even though these beings have grown stronger," it said, "they are still three levels beneath us."
All Essences—Forbidden or otherwise—were 34th to 35th Dimensional entities. Yet, even as it spoke, it knew deep down that the situation was far more complicated than it seemed.
Before, they had already been struggling against the Divine Horrors... and now things were shaping to be even worse than when it all began.
So, though their words were technical, there was no real confidence behind them.
Taking a deep breath, it said, "Also, the beings in the Prime Expanse... they should already be preparing the secret weapon."
The Forbidden Essence of Reckoning gripped its weapon more firmly, the blaze of its crown flaring brighter.
"Yes, we keep fighting these things off... but if it gets any worse, we’ll have no choice."
The five Forbidden Essences stood side by side on the battlefield, their presence thick with tension as they took in the chaos swirling around them.
Endless waves of Divine Horrors crashed forward, the sheer might of Sylas and Konquest and an ever-growing sense of dread settled in as it became painfully clear that the war was slipping far beyond anyone’s control.
