Chapter 314 - 272: Little Eve (Part 2)
Chapter 314 - 272: Little Eve (Part 2)
But Lynn has so many wives at home, it doesn’t really seem easy to fit in. You can tell from Catherine not acknowledging her as family.
"How about next time? We didn’t prepare that much food today, I’ll invite you for a meal when there’s time."
Lynn tilted his head to look at Eve, who seemed a bit wronged with her big, blinking eyes. He remembered the first time he saw her, that young giant dragon with its adorable clumsiness, stirring something in his heart.
They had only met once before; though they hung out for three days, there was too much of a disconnect between the adorable little dragon and the cute girl she is now, making it hard for him to reconcile the two, even if she was indeed the same dragon.
Therefore, Lynn couldn’t accept her as family so soon, but it wouldn’t take long either; with her cute and slightly clumsy nature, he might just want to keep her after a few more glances.
"Well, um, okay..."
Eve held onto Lynn, hesitating for a while, ultimately giving up her act of being spoiled and proud.
Before Catherine arrived, Lynn had already said something similar; she was reluctant to let go, but with his proper wife appearing, she knew that being stubborn might become annoying.
As for why Cleia, who was also one of the ’gift wives,’ was allowed to attend Lynn’s family banquet, that’s a dumb question she wouldn’t ask.
Once Eve backed off upon encountering Catherine, Lynn was relieved.
Because the other five princesses hadn’t been clinging to Lynn; even now, they remained quietly observing from the side.
They clearly understood their roles and had received higher education. Before leaving for the Divine Protection Continent, they were repeatedly instructed by their late emperors, so they naturally wouldn’t behave disrespectfully or do anything that might displease Lynn.
Competing for favor with Lynn’s previous women was a forbidden act. Apart from the clingy little Eve, no one else dared to do so.
Of course, if they were lucky enough to be favored by Lynn, and he showed preference for them, then that would be different.
"We’ll be leaving first, ladies, and there’ll be plenty of chances to meet again. If nothing goes wrong, there’ll still be a long destiny ahead. Let’s worry about other matters once the Demon Race is settled."
Once Eve reluctantly let him go, Lynn stepped out of the crowd, taking Catherine’s hand in one and Cleia’s in the other, then turned back to bid farewell to the five princesses and little Eve.
Up to now, he hadn’t remembered the names of the five princesses, even though they introduced themselves as soon as they arrived. He simply wasn’t that attentive to names that didn’t matter much to him.
However, after returning from the Divine Protection Continent, he’ll get to know the princesses better. Once again, he thought, it would be a pity for them to end up with someone else.
...
...
Before long, Catherine successfully brought Lynn and Cleia back, and Lynn’s family finally reunited.
However, Cleia, as the newcomer in this family, was a bit nervous.
She wished she could be ignored like the other princesses, but Lynn had already set his sights on her, and the family’s Xue’Er was a determined helper, so she couldn’t escape, nor did she really want to.
"Chirp chirp~"
Since Cleia was brought over, Xue’Er wasn’t left out either. It originally wasn’t eligible for that banquet and could only play on the mountain, but being a family banquet at Lynn’s, it had the right to attend, so Cleia summoned it over.
Unfortunately, both Chirp and Little Flower were too tired from the journey and fell asleep first, leaving no animals to play with, so Xue’Er quietly enjoyed some delicious fish snacks alone.
Nonetheless, Xue’Er was quite happy because its clueless owner was finally brought into Lynn’s family. With that recognition, her status as an Imperial Consort should be secured, making its efforts worthwhile.
"Don’t be so stiff. You really should learn from Sifrin. If it were her, she would have blended in with everyone by now."
Catherine initially thought she was the outsider in this large family, but seeing Cleia’s awkwardness and her reluctance to speak after sitting down, she felt like even she, an outsider, seemed more like Lynn’s wife than the newcomer Cleia.
"But I’m not Sifrin; I’m not as lively as she is, nor can I emulate that."
Cleia was not one to smile often, but she still practiced proper manners. Upon hearing Catherine talk to her, she responded politely.
Even though both she and Sifrin shared the last name Windsor, they weren’t close relatives within three generations and hence had no similarities.
She knew being a stiff, cold lump here was inappropriate, but that’s just her nature—not as cheerful and naturally sociable as Sifrin.
"It’s not about forcing yourself to integrate quickly. Once a family, there’s a long time to get along. Even if it feels unfamiliar now, in a few years, ten years, a hundred years, can you still be like separate families?"
Lynn handed a glass of fruit wine to Cleia. Seeing this, the others raised their drinks or wine glasses in a sincere welcome to Cleia.
Being the Light Judge who champions justice, Cleia seemed cold, but nobody disliked her.
Little Youli and Little Yuna raised their glasses filled with orange juice high, secretly glancing at each other and seeing the surety in each other’s eyes.
Cleia’s mom is a member of the Human Race, can give birth quickly, and isn’t small, so she can support a baby.
Childish minds change quickly. Catherine’s side required a breakthrough effort, which wasn’t easy to accomplish, so they turned to Cleia for a possible breakthrough.
It’s just that Cleia wasn’t familiar with the two little ones or aware of their little plots. Otherwise, she might have just taken a sip and run off to avoid being pressed into having a child right after receiving a proposal ring.
"I’ll try my best to get along with everyone. Um... I’m not good at speaking, and I don’t speak much, but my temper and character are okay, so I won’t upset anyone."
Cleia accepted the fruit wine Lynn handed over, raised it in toast to everyone, and then drank it all in one gulp.
After doing that, she returned to her stiff demeanor, though still appeared less unapproachable than before.
She was likely already striving to appear "friendly and approachable." Still, it would require a gradual process. Being cold for nearly thirty years doesn’t just switch to warm and enthusiastic overnight.
"Hehe, welcome sister Cleia to the Lin Family. Having your help will make raising kids much easier."
In Xiya’s absence, Vivian took care of the children without complaint, but that’s when both kids were essentially grown and well-behaved.
Currently, the situation is different; with Xiya and Hilvy both pregnant and such a large family, who knows how many new babies they’ll have to raise in the future. Having an additional sister certainly meant more help, which was naturally wonderful.
"Raising kids..."
Hearing this, Cleia looked left and right. She didn’t know how Lynn arranged it, but he just so happened to place the two little ones on either side of her seat.
Are they called Youli and Yuna? But the two little ones look so alike. How can she tell which is which?
Cleia couldn’t distinguish which kid was who, leaving her unsure of how to help Vivian with their upbringing.
Oh, so troublesome. Maybe she’d just have one of her own in the future. Surely, she could recognize her own child, right?
As her thoughts just began to drift in that direction, Cleia quickly snapped back, shocked by her own ideas. Since when did she become so shameless, boldly thinking about having children...
Could it be that the family atmosphere in Lynn’s home wasn’t quite right?
Cleia was a bit tempted to scratch her head...
