Chapter 299 Holy Body
Chapter 299 Holy Body
Outside the Grey Knights' secret base, thick green poisonous fog churned like a living thing, and the air was filled with a putrid stench.
Astland stood at the edge of the poisonous fog, his brow furrowed. "Russell, even we Grey Knights can't withstand this poisonous fog for long. Are you sure you want to go in?"
Russell nodded and said firmly, "Someone has to find the source of the contamination, doesn't he?"
Arya said with great concern, "But this is too dangerous."
Russell laughed easily and said, "Don't worry, my body is more 'robust' than you think."
What he didn't explicitly say was that the golden spiritual energy within his body could purify it at any time, and the poisonous mist of the Netherworld had almost no effect on him.
Astram's electronic eye swept over Russell, his voice tinged with hesitation: "Even so, I don't want you to take the risk alone."
Russell said seriously, "Astram, we have no time to hesitate. The Imperial army is sacrificing every second, and we must find the contaminated point as soon as possible."
Astlan said helplessly, "I know you've never been a reckless person. Since you insist, what can I say? But you must be careful, because there may be all sorts of monsters hiding in those poisonous fogs, and these monsters will attack you."
Russell brandished his entrenching tool and said, "Don't worry about that, my entrenching tool will keep them in line."
After saying that, Russell went inside and his figure gradually disappeared into the thick green poisonous fog.
As soon as Russell disappeared, Astland immediately ordered, "Everyone, prepare to provide backup for Russell at any time!"
…………
Russell's figure appeared and disappeared in the thick green poisonous fog, and the barrel of the Fire Kirin laser gun gleamed coldly in the dim light.
The poisonous fog churned around us like a living thing, and the rotting plants made a sticky sound underfoot. The air was thick with the stench of decay, the ground was pitted and uneven, and the green puddles were highly corrosive, making every step unsettling.
"This place is absolutely terrible..." Russell muttered to himself, golden arcs of electricity flowing beneath his skin, purifying the toxins that had invaded his body.
Suddenly, several aimlessly wandering, rotting corpses emerged from the poisonous fog. Their bodies were highly decomposed, their skin crawling with maggots, and their empty eye sockets gleamed with an eerie green light.
"For the Emperor!" Russell roared in a low voice, the howl of the Fire Kirin laser gun echoing through the poisonous fog. A scorching beam pierced the skull of a rotting corpse, and putrid blood splattered into the green pool of water, sizzling as it passed.
Russell continued onward when a low growl suddenly came from within the poisonous fog. Several highly decomposed pigs and sheep burst out of the shadows, their bodies twisted and deformed, their skin covered with pustules and rotting wounds.
“These guys… are even more troublesome than rotting corpses.” Russell swung the Blood Drinker and cleaved open the head of a rotting beast.
Another rotten beast pounced from the side, and Russell's Fire Kirin Laser Gun quickly opened fire, the scorching beam burning the rotten beast's body into charcoal.
Russell had just finished killing the rotten beast when he heard the communicator ring.
"Russell, are you alright?" Astram said into the communicator.
Russell chuckled and said: "It's alright, I managed to deal with a few wild beasts along the way."
“We are ready to provide support should anything happen,” Astram said.
Russell chuckled and joked, "Your reinforcements won't be slower than the rotting corpses, will they?"
Astland chuckled into the communicator: "Don't worry, we won't be slow."
Russell continued onward, having his own judgment on how to find the contamination point.
"The denser the toxic fog, the greater the likelihood of pollution points." Russell believed this to be true.
His steps were firm and swift as he ventured deeper into the toxic fog. The decaying plants and green puddles around him seemed to be a silent warning, but Russell's gaze remained fixed ahead.
Soon, Russell's vision pierced through the poisonous fog and he saw a simple building. It was a house pieced together from rotten wood and rusted metal, and a huge monster stood at the door.
The monster's body was composed of rotting flesh and twisted bones, its skin covered with pustules and wriggling maggots. Its eyes gleamed with an eerie green light, and it emitted low, guttural roars.
"Looks like we've found the right place." Russell quickly raised the Fire Kirin Laser Gun and aimed it at the monster.
The roar of the Fire Kirin laser gun echoed through the poisonous mist, its scorching beam piercing the monster's chest. However, the monster only staggered slightly before letting out a deafening roar and lunging at Russell.
"This guy... is pretty tough." Russell could only cleave the monster's arm open by swinging the Bloodthirsty entrenching tool.
The monster's other hand suddenly swung down, and Russell quickly dodged, smashing a deep crater into the ground.
Russell's eyes turned serious as he growled, "It seems this is the only option."
He concentrated his golden spiritual energy on the Blood Drinker, then charged toward the monster like lightning. Just before he reached it, he leaped up and swung the Blood Drinker to slash at the monster's head.
The monster's body turned to ashes in the golden arcs of electricity, and its putrid blood splattered into the green pool of water, making a sizzling sound.
The monster looked powerful, but unfortunately it couldn't last a single round against Russell.
He entered the dilapidated building, only to find it empty, with rotting walls and green puddles on the ground.
“It seems this isn’t a contamination site,” Russell murmured.
His gaze swept around, his voice carrying a hint of determination: "It seems we have no choice but to continue the search."
His figure continued to move through the thick green poisonous fog, and soon he found another place where the fog was the heaviest.
It was a massive nest, pieced together from rotting wood and rusted metal. Inside the nest lay a gigantic, monstrous bird, its body corroded, yet its feathers remained intact, shimmering with an eerie light.
“This guy… might come in handy,” Russell said with delight.
The strange bird's eyes gleamed with an eerie green light, and it emitted a low roar. Suddenly, its wings spread wide, and it swooped down on Russell.
Russell swiftly dodged and used Bloodthirst to cleave the bird's wing. The bird let out a deafening roar, its massive claws lunging at Russell.
"Looks like we'll have to resort to something drastic," Russell roared.
With a wave of his hand, golden psionic energy wove into a giant net in the air, trapping the strange bird firmly.
The strange bird let out a deafening roar, but it could not break free from the binding of the golden psionic energy.
Russell laughed and said, "Now, you're mine."
To subdue the strange bird, Russell had to resort to harsher methods, relentlessly bombarding it with golden psionic energy. Of course, he was careful with this electrotherapy.
The strange bird seemed to be terrified of the golden psionic energy, and each electric shock caused it to let out a violent scream.
