Chapter 182 Wanting a Little Nephew
Chapter 182 Wanting a Little Nephew
Tan Haoyu watched Tan Xiaoxuan skip away and shook his head helplessly.
He turned his head and found Zhu Ziqing looking at him with a strange expression.
"What's wrong?" he asked, raising an eyebrow with a hint of mockery in his tone.
Zhu Ziqing quickly shook her head, a blush rising on her face: "No...it's nothing."
She couldn't very well say that she thought of something else because of Tan Xiaoxuan's use of the word "little nephew," could she?
Seeing her shifty expression, Tan Haoyu understood, but he didn't point it out. He simply pulled her gently into his arms.
Zhu Ziqing hugged his waist and buried her head in his chest, her voice muffled: "Haoyu, can you pinch me? I feel like all of this is a dream, it's so unreal."
Tan Haoyu chuckled softly and reached out to pinch her cheek: "Does it hurt?"
Zhu Ziqing wrinkled her nose, but didn't flinch: "It hurts... but I still feel like I'm dreaming."
Tan Haoyu cupped her face in his hands, his gaze earnest and gentle: "Ziqing, forget the past. From now on, you only need to remember that I am here, and all of this is real."
Looking into his deep eyes, Zhu Ziqing's unease gradually dissipated. She nodded and softly replied, "Yes, I understand."
She lifted her head from Tan Haoyu's embrace, suddenly remembered something, and pulled him to sit on the sofa: "Oh right, let me show you the gifts I prepared for Tan's mother and grandfather."
She carefully took out the double-sided embroidery and calligraphy from her bag and showed them to Tan Haoyu.
Tan Haoyu examined it carefully and nodded in approval: "Not bad. My mom likes embroidery, and my grandpa loves calligraphy and painting. They will definitely like it."
Upon hearing this, Zhu Ziqing smiled with delight, but quickly frowned again: "But... I haven't thought of what gifts to give your father and Xiaoxuan yet."
She rested her chin on her hand, lost in thought.
Seeing her troubled expression, Tan Haoyu suddenly picked her up and carried her in his arms: "Don't think about it now, go take a shower. After you shower, I'll tell you what to give her."
Zhu Ziqing was startled by his sudden action, her face instantly turning as red as a ripe apple: "You...you put me down!"
Tan Haoyu remained unmoved and carried her towards the bathroom, saying, "Don't worry, I won't peek."
Zhu Ziqing buried her face in his chest, blushing, and muttered softly, "That's not what I'm worried about..."
Tan Haoyu glanced down at her, a smile playing on his lips: "So what are you worried about?"
Zhu Ziqing was speechless for a moment, and simply stopped talking.
Tan Haoyu placed her at the bathroom door and gently patted her head: "Go on, I'll tell you what gift to give you after you take a shower."
Zhu Ziqing looked up at him, a hint of expectation in her eyes: "Really?"
Tan Haoyu nodded, his tone firm: "Of course, when have I ever lied to you?"
Zhu Ziqing finally felt relieved and a sweet smile appeared on her face: "Then... wait for me."
She turned and went into the bathroom, stealing a glance at Tan Haoyu before closing the door.
Tan Haoyu stood outside the door, listening to the sound of water coming from inside, his smile deepening. He murmured to himself, "Silly girl, you don't need to worry about gifts at all. Because the most precious gift for you has already been prepared."
When Zhu Ziqing came out of the shower wrapped in a bathrobe, Tan Haoyu was sitting on the sofa waiting for her. Seeing her, he patted the spot next to him, gesturing for her to sit down.
"Are you going to tell me what gift to give?" Zhu Ziqing obediently sat down next to him, looking at him with bright eyes.
Tan Haoyu didn't answer directly. Instead, he gently lifted her left leg, his gaze falling on the faint scar on her knee. His fingertips lightly traced the scar, his voice low and deep: "Does it still hurt?"
Zhu Ziqing was taken aback by his sudden action, then shook her head: "It doesn't hurt anymore, it's just that the scar hasn't completely faded yet."
Tan Haoyu didn't speak. He took out a bottle of ointment from the coffee table drawer, unscrewed the cap, and a faint fragrance immediately filled the air. He dabbed some ointment with his fingertip and gently applied it to her scar, his movements tender and focused.
"This is a scar removal ointment. Apply it once a day, and it will heal quickly." He said, while gently pressing the ointment with his fingertips to help it absorb.
Looking at his downcast eyes, Zhu Ziqing felt a surge of warmth in her heart. She suddenly leaned closer and gently kissed his cheek: "Thank you, Haoyu."
Tan Haoyu paused, looked up at her, a hint of mockery in his eyes: "You're moved already?"
Zhu Ziqing blushed and quickly changed the subject: "You still haven't told me what gifts to give your father and Xiaoxuan!"
Tan Haoyu chuckled, screwed the cap back on the ointment, and casually placed it aside. He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Didn't Xiaoxuan say she wants a little nephew?"
Zhu Ziqing was stunned for a moment, then realized what she meant, and her face instantly turned as red as a boiled shrimp: "You...you're talking nonsense! How could it be so fast!"
Tan Haoyu persisted, biting her earlobe and saying in an ambiguous tone, "Why is it impossible? Didn't we already..."
"Tan Haoyu!" Zhu Ziqing covered his mouth in embarrassment, her heart pounding like a drum. "If you say that again, I won't talk to you anymore!"
Tan Haoyu chuckled softly, pulled her into his arms, rested his chin on the top of her head, and his tone suddenly softened: "Ziqing, do you know? The first time I saw you, you were drinking heavily for work and chasing after a car barefoot. At that time, I thought to myself, how can this woman be so stubborn?"
Zhu Ziqing leaned against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat, and whispered, "There was no other way back then, I had to rely on myself."
Tan Haoyu tightened his arms around you, his voice tinged with concern: "You don't need to anymore. With me here, no one can bully you anymore."
After he finished speaking, he suddenly released her, took a document from his suit pocket, and handed it to her: "This is a personnel adjustment notice from Feiyang Technology. I have fired all those who were unfriendly to you. Also, I have terminated the cooperation with Wan's Group."
Zhu Ziqing took the document, a hint of surprise flashing in her eyes: "You...how do you know all this?"
Tan Haoyu ruffled her hair, his tone firm: "I know everything about you. From now on, I won't let anyone have the chance to hurt you."
Zhu Ziqing looked at him, tears welling up in her eyes. She had never imagined that she would be cherished and protected like this one day.
"Haoyu..." she called softly, her voice choked with emotion.
Tan Haoyu lowered his head and kissed her forehead, his voice gentle: "Don't cry. You just need to remember that from now on, your life will only be filled with happiness."
Zhu Ziqing leaned against him, feeling the warmth emanating from his body, and her heart was filled with peace and reassurance.
Tan Haoyu leaned against the headboard, his gaze falling on Zhu Ziqing's slightly flushed cheeks, and a tender feeling he had never felt before welled up in his heart.
He had never thought about getting married and having children before, but tonight, Tan Xiaoxuan's words "little nephew" gave him a new idea.
