Chapter 34 Going to the Market
Chapter 34 Going to the Market
During their journey, the three happened upon a market fair. The fair was bustling with various beastmen and other strange and unusual items. Lin Weiwei looked around curiously, while Ye Ying and You Hao accompanied her on either side.
Suddenly, Lin Weiwei was drawn to a small item on a stall: a delicate jade gourd pendant, emitting a faint glow. She couldn't resist reaching out to touch it, and the instant she touched it, a strange fluctuation occurred in the air.
The stall owner was an elderly fox clansman. He squinted at Lin Weiwei and said with a smile, "Little female, you really have an eye for things. This is a rare treasure."
Lin Weiwei picked up the gourd-shaped jade pendant and examined it carefully.
At that moment, Xiao Fuzi's voice echoed in Lin Weiwei's mind.
(Sister Weiwei, this is a good thing, quickly exchange it with him.)
Lin Weiwei took out a string of pearl bracelets
"Grandpa, can I trade my pearl bracelet with you?"
“No, little female,” the old man replied.
"However, I have two grandsons who are ordinary people; you know what I want."
Lin Weiwei's heart pounded, while Ye Ying and You Hao watched the old man warily.
"Little Fuzi, have we been seen through by this old man?" Lin Weiwei asked anxiously.
(Sister Weiwei, don't be nervous. This old man is quite capable. He predicted that his grandson would have a benefactor today, and he also predicted that you are the person he has been waiting for. He has no ill intentions.)
"Thank goodness, that scared me! I thought I'd run into a master," Lin Weiwei breathed a sigh of relief.
Lin Weiwei glanced at the old man, who allowed her to examine him.
Lin Weiwei took out a low-grade pill. "Grandpa, is this what you want?"
The old man's face lit up with a bright smile when he saw the elixir.
"Yes, that's the kind, but I want two."
"Okay," Lin Weiwei said, taking out two Earth-grade pills and exchanging them for the gourd jade pendant from the old man.
"Grandpa, do you know how to take it?" Lin Weiwei asked.
"Isn't it one pill per person?"
“Grandpa, you’re wrong. This one pill is enough for three mortals. It’s a Grade Earth Pill. The remaining one can be given to someone at the Grade Yellow level, or you can give it to your grandson when he reaches that level,” Lin Weiwei explained.
"Little female, thank you so much, Grandpa. I'll have my grandson repay you," the old man said, his face beaming with emotion.
Lin Weiwei smiled and nodded, not minding, and continued strolling through the market with Ye Ying and You Hao. After walking around for a while and finding nothing particularly interesting, they decided to continue their journey.
Just then, a commotion arose in the distance. The three looked in the direction of the sound and saw a group of orcs beating a wolf boy. The boy was covered in wounds, and his eyes revealed despair.
Ye Ying recognized the young man; he had seen him hunting with the wolf clan before.
“Vell, I know him. He’s a werewolf,” Nightshade explained.
"Since you know me, why don't you go and help me?"
Nightshade unleashed his rank-based oppression, and the beastmen all ceased their violence. Nightshade helped the injured boy up and asked what had happened. The boy gave Nightshade a grateful look and recounted what had occurred.
It turns out the boy had a stomachache and went to the toilet. After he returned, his tribespeople left, and he accidentally bumped into someone, which led to the scene just now.
“They shouldn’t have gone far. We’re in a hurry anyway, so let’s go together and see if we can catch up,” Nightshade said.
"Thank you so much," the wolf boy said.
After walking for a while, they encountered the wolf clan. Yes, the wolf clan only now realized that one person was missing. Just as they were about to turn back to look for him, they saw the wounded boy and gathered around to find out what had happened.
They all transformed into beasts and went to find people to fight.
After saying goodbye to them, Lin Weiwei continued on her way. Throughout the journey, You Hao remained silent.
"What's wrong with you?" Lin Weiwei finally couldn't help but ask.
"It's nothing. I was just thinking about some things from the past." You Hao sighed softly.
"Oh? What's wrong? Tell me about it." Lin Weiwei leaned closer curiously.
“I was bullied like that when I was a child, when I was only ten years old,” You Hao’s eyes dimmed.
Hearing this, Lin Weiwei felt a pang of sadness. She reached out and gently patted You Hao's shoulder.
"It's okay! Aren't you strong now? Next time you see them, I'll help you get revenge," Lin Weiwei comforted her.
You Hao smiled slightly. Actually, he was just pretending to be pitiful. The bullying he suffered wasn't that serious, and his father had already avenged him. Generally, no one dared to provoke the snake clan.
"Yes, thank you, Weiwei." You Hao said, pulling Lin Weiwei into his arms.
Night Shadow: I feel like he's faking his pitifulness...
