Chapter 362: Master Wang was stunned again and again
After hearing Zhang Hengrui's words, Master Wang felt a little relieved and responded respectfully. He then said to Changsheng, "You, come here! Take the distinguished guest out the back door immediately. Be careful."
Changsheng immediately took the order and stepped forward, respectfully inviting Zhang Hengrui in. Zhang Hengrui turned to look at the door behind him, which had been closed by the waiter who had brought him food. Listening to the incessant melody from within, it felt as if an invisible, foul air had entered his nostrils. His expression instantly turned extremely grim, as if he had eaten a fly, and his disgust was evident.
"Master!" Master Wang spoke at the right moment, his voice gentle but tinged with urgency, as if he feared Zhang Hengrui would cause trouble if he stayed even a second longer. Zhang Hengrui gritted his teeth, his cheek muscles trembling slightly. He turned and gave Master Wang a long look, saying, "Sir, all this has been incredibly hard on you. When this is accomplished, you'll definitely be rewarded." With that, he hurried off with Changsheng.
As Master Wang watched Zhang Hengrui depart, the breath he had been holding suddenly relaxed. It was as if a taut string had snapped, and his legs gave way. If Zhong Chuzhou hadn't quickly reached out and grabbed Master Wang's arm, he would have nearly fallen to the ground.
Feeling the powerful grip on his arm, Master Wang's heart calmed slightly. He wiped the sweat from his sleeve, which was almost soaked with sweat, and adjusted his breathing. "Prince, do we still need to go to the front?" Master Wang cursed Master Zhong for not telling him about the plan earlier, which scared him half to death. Thinking about Changsheng's previous report, he asked tentatively. He thought it was just a false report deliberately arranged by Zhong Chuzhou to make Zhang Hengrui leave early.
"Yeah! Let's go check it out," Zhong Chuzhou replied softly. He was a little puzzled when he heard it was Mu Zixuan who was coming, but he guessed the Prime Minister and his men had discovered Zhang Hengrui had secretly left the city, hence the arrangements. He still needed to meet Zixuan to find out the specific reason, though. A hint of thought flashed through his deep eyes.
"Ah?" Master Wang was stunned, his mouth opened wide, his face full of surprise, "Then, the young general is really here? When did you notify him? So soon?" A series of questions popped out of his mouth like a machine gun, his eyes full of confusion and shock.
Zhong Chuzhou simply glanced at him, his eyes calm yet profound, without offering any explanation. But Master Wang's reaction reminded him that he had to ask Master Wang to go with him to the front gate. He was worried that Zhang Hengrui might become suspicious and come around to secretly observe if there was really anyone there.
"Let's go. Go to the front door to deal with the young general. Remember, you don't know them, so don't let them in if you can." Zhong Chuzhou said briefly, then took a step and walked towards the front door.
"Huh?" Master Wang was stunned again, his eyes widening, his face filled with astonishment. What did this mean? Were these not reinforcements arranged by the Crown Prince? Was this truly a coincidence? A series of questions raced through his mind, leaving him momentarily bewildered.
"Mr. Wang?!" Zhong Chuzhou took a few steps and saw that Master Wang was still standing there in a daze, so he called him at the right time. Although his voice was not loud, it was particularly clear in the silent atmosphere.
This finally brought Master Wang back to his senses. He sighed and hurried after him, his steps somewhat flustered. "Prince, I'm stupid. What's going on?" He asked quietly, his eyes filled with confusion, as he followed beside Zhong Chuzhou. He had always prided himself on his intelligence, but ever since meeting Prince Zhong, he felt so far behind, his mind often unable to keep up.
"Mr. Wang, do you think Commander Zhang is dumber than you?" Zhong Chuzhou asked calmly without stopping.
"Uh... What do you mean, Prince?" Master Wang was puzzled as to why Zhong Chuzhou asked this.
"You are all guessing whether this prince deliberately arranged it or spread false information. Although Zhang Hengrui did not say the purpose of his visit today, I think he also wanted to find out the truth. Do you think he has such a guess?" Zhong Chuzhou slowly expressed Master Wang's doubts in a calm tone. Every word was like a clear note, jumping in Master Wang's mind.
"Oh!" Master Wang understood, a look of sudden enlightenment on his face. "If he'd become suspicious, he'd definitely try to find out if there was anyone at the front door. Or if it was really General Mu, or just pretending." He nodded slightly, a flicker of understanding in his eyes, secretly admiring Zhong Chuzhou's meticulousness and thorough consideration.
As they spoke, the two of them had already reached the front door, and they could faintly hear a commotion coming from the front. Zhong Chuzhou and Master Wang exchanged a glance, then swapped places. Zhong Chuzhou also subdued his aura, reverting to the demeanor of a guard.
Master Wang straightened his clothes, put on a perfectly composed smile, and stepped forward. The two men who had previously stopped Zhang Hengrui were now holding back several young men, seemingly overwhelmed.
The young men kept shouting, and one of them put his hands on his hips, with a heroic look on his face, and said loudly: "Who is your master? I finally hit the pheasant's wings, and it flapped its wings into your manor. What's the matter? Do you want to take my things for free?" His voice was sharp and harsh.
Another young man also echoed: "That's right, don't think we are easy to bully. Let us in to look for it quickly, otherwise you will be in trouble!" As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeves, pretending to take action, with a warning in his eyes.
Another man, arranging his hands, said word by word, "My two heroes, that pheasant was hunted with great effort by us, and we watched it fly into this manor. You are really trying to keep it for yourself, which is not the behavior of a gentleman..."
Mu Zixuan stood behind them, his hands behind his back, his eyebrows raised as he watched the lively scene ahead. He had only taken the lead at the beginning, then watched his companions perform. He felt that his move was brilliant, and it seemed that he had also acquired some of his cousin's wit.
Upon seeing this, Master Wang stepped forward quickly with a kind smile, bowed respectfully to the young masters outside the door, and said, "Gentlemen, please calm down. It is true that our master does not like to be disturbed in this manor. I hope you will forgive me. Since the pheasant has flown in, I will send someone to help you find it. Could you please wait for a moment?" His voice was soft and tactful, with a hint of flattery, trying to calm the anger of these young masters.
Zhong Chuzhou, who was following behind, took in the people outside the door and his eyes twitched. He couldn't help but sigh in admiration. Zixuan really knows how to find people. Aside from Mu Zixuan, the others were indeed some of the more difficult dandies in the capital. They weren't exactly evil, but their backgrounds were impressive. Few in the capital were willing to mess with them.
