Chapter 263 Underground Mine Tunnel
Chapter 263 Underground Mine Tunnel
Everyone became excited and started punching and kicking the guys who were knocked down and thrown out by Bourne, making them scream in pain.
"Stop fighting. Women, old people and children should go into the lounge first and lock the door. The rest of you should go spray gasoline on the corridor. If spiders come in, kill them with forks first. If there are too many, light them on fire. I will find a way to open the door!"
At this moment, a weak voice sounded: "I have a spare key to the warehouse!"
Bourne looked and saw the boy whose leg was crushed by a motorcycle that he and Chris had rescued in the mine.
"His name is Brett, and he's the son of Mayor Wade!" Summer explained quietly in Bourne's ear.
Bourne took the key and quickly opened the door, and a gust of cold air blew out.
"There's wind, there must be a passage leading to the mine here, what that guy said is true!"
After making a judgment in his mind, Bourne immediately asked everyone to hurry into the warehouse, even the thugs on the ground were brought in.
Just as Bourne was about to close the door, he saw the spiders had broken through the flame channel where the flames were gradually going out and were rushing towards this side.
"Bang!" The door slammed shut and locked, and the frightening squeaking sounds were completely shut out.
The world is quiet.
After a long while, when everyone in the storage room was sure that the spiders outside could not get in, they began to relax.
But they were also very cautious and found a place to sit down and rest.
What happened tonight was too exciting for them.
Sheriff Shaman walked to the door and said to Bourne, who was putting his ear to the door to listen to the sound outside, "We found the hole. Do you want to come and see it?"
Bourne assigned two young and strong male townspeople to guard the security door and not allow anyone to open the door, and gave a Glock 17 to one of the black guys.
This man was the one who punched the fat man in the stomach, and was one of the miners with high prestige and good character in the town, as Shaman believed.
When they arrived at the cave entrance that Shaman and the others had found, it was two meters high and one person wide, and was originally blocked by a large safe.
There is a slide rail under the safe, which moves very smoothly and without any sound. No wonder Bourne didn't hear any movement and the entrance to the hole was found.
Bourne shone a flashlight and found that the hole was opened on the side wall of the mine tunnel. It should have been dug accidentally by the workers, but was used by Wade, the unscrupulous mayor, as a secret passage for him to bury medical waste.
There is a forklift not far from the cave entrance in the mine tunnel. Wade probably uses it to transport waste.
"Does anyone know where this mine tunnel leads to?"
Bourne just took a quick look inside and then blocked the safe again. If he remembered correctly, this mine tunnel in the movie was the one leading to the spider's lair.
"Speaking of the mines, many people have worked here, but only the McMillan family has a complete map of the tunnels."
Shaman replied.
Soon, Chris was called over. As the only male in the McMillan family, the tunnel map was already in his mind.
"This town was originally a temporary camp for the miners. Later, as the scale of mining grew, more and more miners and their families gathered here, and it became what it is now. Let me think about it."
Chris squatted on the ground and drew a sketch of the town and the surrounding mountains with the chalk he carried with him. He soon came to a conclusion:
"This passage has two ends. One end leads down to an abandoned mine, and the other end leads to a transfer station, from where we can get out."
"Okay, Chief Shaman, please pick out a few reliable people who have experience in going down wells. We will split into two groups and start exploring from both ends at the same time."
Shaman agreed immediately and the personnel were quickly confirmed.
One team consists of five people, all of whom are miners who have lived in the town for many years. They are led by Deputy Sheriff Pete. Their mission is to explore the road leading to the transfer station, focusing on whether there are traces of spiders crawling along the way and mark them;
The other team consisted of only two people, Bourne and Chris. They were going to check the mine where the fat man mentioned medical waste was discarded to see if it was really a spider's nest.
If there really are such spiders, then we must first build defensive fortifications. Otherwise, once everyone escapes through the mine tunnel and alerts the spiders, the consequences of being chased by a large group of spiders in such a place would be disastrous.
Apart from the time during the day, this was Bourne's second time going down the mine. This time the feeling was even worse. Bourne didn't like this feeling of being oppressed.
But Chris was a little excited. He whispered the history of this place to Bourne.
"This copper mine was discovered by my grandfather, and he and my father devoted their entire lives to it."
Chris said:
"I also spent my childhood here. My father always believed there was a gold mine here. A few days before he disappeared, he kept saying, 'I found it, I found it.' But they didn't believe him because he didn't have a piece of ore to test. In the end, even he disappeared."
"Hush, be quiet, did you hear anything, Chris?"
Bourne grabbed Chris who was still walking forward and pointed him in the direction of another fork in the road.
The fork in the road was pitch black and had a curve, so even the light from a flashlight couldn't shine in.
"It's a dead end road. You can tell by the fact that there are no cables running through it."
"No, let's look over there. I have a bad feeling about this, trust me."
As he spoke, Bourne took the lead and walked over there, holding an engineering shovel in front of him.
Sure enough, before they had walked twenty meters, they were stunned by the scene before them.
In this tunnel, there were countless spider cocoons hanging densely. Judging from their size and shape, most of them were humans!
"Damn it, did those spiders treat this place as a granary?"
Chris cursed angrily under his breath and followed Bourne as he tore open the cocoon closest to him.
"Oh my God, Gladys!" Chris was so shocked that he almost jumped up when he saw the face of the person wrapped in the cocoon. This person turned out to be his aunt who had been missing for a day!
I didn't expect that I was caught by a spider and hung here as food reserve.
"Stop talking nonsense and save people!" Bourne quickly checked several more cocoons, which were filled with townspeople. Fortunately, most of these people were still conscious, but were wrapped in spider silk and unable to move.
Bourne and Chris quickly rescued seven or eight people, helped them aside and let them recover on their own.
"This is not a solution." Bourne thought for a moment and said to Chris, "You stay here to save people, I'll go to the passage over there to take a look. I'm not sure where the waste is, and I'm still worried."
Having said that, Bourne's talent risk warning has not been activated, which means that the spiders should have come out in full force, so the danger is not great now.
Bourne moved quickly along the mine tunnel. This time he was alone, so he sped up. After less than five minutes of fast walking, he found the place where Mayor Wade discarded the medical waste.
This was a vertical mine, with cans filled with waste piled up randomly around the mine. Bourne noticed that several cans at the bottom had broken and the dark liquid had flowed into the mine.
On these discarded cans, there are spider silks visible to the naked eye, and many small spiders are crawling on them.
“Damn it!”
Bourne cursed under his breath and was about to go back, but he found two bodies on the ground.
